A transformation of the German energy supply can only succeed if it is supported by all social forces. No matter whether consumers, business or civil society. Without a majority in the population, the conversion to a climate-neutral society is doomed to failure. It is all the more important to regularly check the acceptance of political decisions. The results can be indicators of the need for corrections and provide impetus for the future. This is also the impetus of the KEMB Forum Climate Index. It has been collected monthly since April 2023 in a representative survey by the Erfurt opinion research institute INSA-Consulere on behalf of the forum.
The climate index was developed by the KEMB Forum Board in close coordination with the Scientific Advisory Board Prof. Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht (World Energy Council/TU Freiberg), Prof. Reint Gropp (Leibniz Institute for Economic Research Halle IWH), Prof. Hubert Kleinert (Hessian University of Police and Administration Giessen) and Prof. Ullrich Heilemann (Leipzig University). The sectors climate protection, energy production, mobility and construction are queried. The Climate Index is regularly supplemented with questions on current political and social issues.
